USC linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested early Tuesday morning and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a man during a party near campus, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

From the editors of this site, who ironically, were both punched in the face by a leather glove-wearing Marcell Allmond (former USC cornerback) back in 2000 — Rey, please — your aggression is best left on the field. It’s way more fun when you’re hitting our opponents, not our students.

Allmond was in the Jaguars and Ravens training camp, then went to NFL Europe. He’s currently working as a personal trainer. I wasn’t aware of his past, but he has been very pleasant to me.

Rey absolutely disgusts me. For the past 2 years he has sexually and physically harassed numerous students. He lifted my friend’s dress at a party and thought he was fucking hilarious. Then at a party last night, he hit me. When LAPD was notified, there was no investigation whatsoever. Everyone keeps sticking up for him because his father died. A lot of people’s family members die. It doesn’t make his behavior acceptable. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the Samoan community for Rey’s actions… the reason I say that is all it takes is one bad apple to make us all look bad… and it doesn’t help when these ignorant illiterate samoans come on this site and try to back him up with racial slandering of other cultures…. stop playing the victim…. if you wanna represent your people…. do it in a respectable manner that represents our island pride and heritage… I don’t know Rey personally…. but he himself has admitted to these allegations…. in time Rey will represent his people… in a fashion that his father will be proud of…. until then I will stick to the Samoan athletes that have represented our people well… like Jesse Sapolu, Junior Seau, Lofa Tatupu (yes trojans can be loved also), etc…..
