The LA Times had a great article written up about John McKay…
One night while out at Chasen’s of Beverly Hills with Bear Bryant, a waiter approached with a request.
“Coach McKay,” he said. “Mr. Sinatra has a table in back and wants you to stop by.”
McKay, who already had won two of his four national titles, didn’t budge.
“You tell him to come up and see us,” he said.
Ah yes. It doesn’t get much bigger than that.
In October of 2001, J.K. McKay (John’s son) and Pat Haden snuck onto the Coliseum field and spread John McKay’s ashes over the home sideline for USC.
Since then Pete Carroll and the Trojans have not lost a home game.
