Tuesday’s practice roundup

It was USC’s first two-a-day practice, and there was plenty of action from several of USC’s newest players.

The OC Register highlight of the day:

…freshman receiver Travon Patterson made two cuts to shed his coverage and sprinted into the right corner of the end zone. There, redshirt freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez found his target, 30 yards away, arms outstretched and three strides ahead of his defenders. Touchdown.

Rivals said C.J. Gable has the best day out of the freshman running backs:

While (Stafon) Johnson looked solid, (C.J.) Gable had his best practice of fall camp–continuing to show fantastic vision and patience on his runs.

And the LA Times reports that Mark Sanchez has invented a new way to study the playbook:

“I took the mattress off the bed and put it under underneath,” he said. “I put the playbook on top and I’m reading notes through the holes in the bed.”
