Coach Pete Carroll said the Trojans’ top tailback would not start after practice Tuesday afternoon on Howard Jones Field, where Washington was running at less than full-strength on about a dozens carries, most of them with the second-team offense.

  1. It is going to be interesting to see how Carroll & McNair play this running back situation to a conclusion. You just know Washington is going to get his chance to show his talent and become the starter unless one of the freshmen shows they are another Reggie in the first game or two. I still feel Bradford is “on loan” until the other backs show they can handle all the running duties. SC has always had a “headhunter” safety roaming around to make a reciever-tightend or running back think twice in catching a pass. Bradford is obviously built to provide that service. I think Nick Holt will win Bradford back over ASAP especially if the current safeties need help. Defense is going to be SC’s mealticket to success this year!
