Action News Power Rankings: Week 7

Administrative Note: We were contacted by the BCS, about possibly using the Action News Power Rankings as one of the rankings incorporated into the BCS aggregate. But we declined. Quite honestly, we’re better than the BCS, and in time, everyone will come to covet our Action News Power Trophy more than any crystal football — this much is certain.

Now, on with the Rankings:

T-Wire/Action News Pac-10 Power Rankings – Week 7

USC - Ron Burgundy1.) USC

Ron Burgundy or Harry Houdini? You decide.

Cal - Wes Mantooth2.) Cal

Wes Mantooth stepped up big time against the Duckies. Coincidentally, the actor who portrays Mr. Mantooth also did quite well for himself this past weekend.

Oregon - Brick Tamland3.) Oregon

Pretty much got destroyed in the Battle for the Bronze Birkenstock and control of the Patchouli Belt. It kind of looked like Oregon had made fun of a dear Cal relative before the game or something. Not pretty.

Washington - Ed Harken4.) Washington

Sure they’re coming off a tough loss to USC, but after what they did to UCLA, you really think we’re going to put the Bruins ahead of the Huskies at this point?

UCLA - Veronica Corningstone5.) UCLA

Won a game, lost a QB. Deep down really just wants to stay home and cook and clean all day.

Arizona - Champ Kind6.) Arizona

Slowly but surely, making us look like total asses for putting them at #4 and predicting many a whammy from them in the preseason.

Washington State - Garth Holliday7.) Washington State

Came down to earth a bit against Oregon State. Back to the bricks this week against #2 Wes Mantooth.

ASU - Brian Fantana8.) Arizona State

Week off, but everybody below them lost, keeping them padded and allowing them to rest up for their visit to Papa Burgundy’s. If they’re lucky, maybe Merlin Olsen will drop by.

Oregon State - Frank Vitchard9.) Oregon State

Well, they did hold Washington State to fewer points than USC did. Maybe THEY are the best defense in the conference?

Stanford - Public TV News Anchor10.) Stanford

For the way they’ve looked all season, 31-0 vs. Notre Dame was pretty impressive. Kudos Stanford. Champagne flutes all around.

  1. AZ higher than WSU? come off it. You all must feel compelled to rank AZ higher because of your pre-season prognostications. AZ is even in worse shape at this point in the season when compared to the pre-season, as Tui is hurting.

  2. Uh yeah “bear fan”, except Washington State barely beat the Beavers. So it’s not like THEY really did anything to lay claim that #6 spot this week.
