Only two more weeks of Action News Power Rankings after this — the final regular season rankings, and then the end of year rankings, following the conclusion of the bowl season. For now, here’s your Week 14 breakdown:

T-Wire/Action News Pac-10 Power Rankings – Week 14

USC - Ron Burgundy1.) USC

All that stands between Ron and another National Championship game is Veronica.

Cal - Wes Mantooth2.) Cal

Let’s hope Wes fares better in San Diego against Texas A&M than they did against Texas Tech in 2004.

Oregon State - Frank Vitchard3.) Oregon State

For those of you scoring at home — this Sunday in the Aloha Bowl, the Beavers are taking on a guy who got booted from Colorado for chasing the beaver.

[Editor’s Note: We normally display 1-4 before the jump — but honestly, there is enough of a separation between these three and the rest, 4-10 all deserve to reside after the jump exclusively]

UCLA - Veronica Corningstone4.) UCLA

Veronica’s looking for redemption by playing spoiler. Papa Burgundy’s just lookin’ to make some babies.

Oregon - Brick Tamland5.) Oregon

Brick gets to spend time with the Mormons at Christmas. Have fun.

Arizona - Champ Kind6.) TIE Arizona

A loss to VD-ridden Fantana puts a cloud on the late season whammies that preceded.

Washington State - Garth Holliday6.) TIE Washington State

Program’s definitely on the rise, but the wheels sort of came off there at the end of ’06.

ASU - Brian Fantana8.) Arizona State

Fantana’s slept with one too many skanks. It’s officially time for a penicillin infusion, in the form of a former or current SC offensive coordinator.

Washington - Ed Harken9.) Washington

Really deserve better than this, but six game losing streaks (and losses to the Public Access Guy) are hard to overcome around these parts.

Stanford - Public TV News Anchor10.) Stanford

One last beatdown from Wes Mantooth, and then the 2006 Stanford football season can finally be euthanized.

  1. Did you see the breaking news about the 2003 National Championship?

    _____________________________

    1. USC agreed to the BCS contract.

    2. BCS contract explicitly states that the winner of the National Championship Game is the one and only National Champion.

    3. USC agreed to the formula the BCS uses to decide the #1 and #2 teams in America at the end of the regular season.

    4. USC was not ranked either #1 or #2 in the only ranking that mattered. This was a result of USC playing only ONE ranked team all season AND losing to an unranked, six loss team. Had USC played two ranked teams, they would have been ranked #1 or #2. If USC hadn’t lost to the unranked, six loss team, they would have been ranked #1.

    5. Because USC did not earn a #1 or #2 ranking, they did not make it to the National Championship Game.

    6. Because USC did not play in the National Championship Game, they did not win the National Championship.

So why do these USC fans continue to claim the 2003 National Championship, which LSU rightfully earned and won?

Because the AP voted them #1? Since the BCS was created and authorized by all the major college presidents and athletic directors, the AP title is obsolete. It has the same worth as the Dunkel or Golfer’s Digest titles. The AP has no authority except that which it gives itself. The colleges did not authorize it, like the other various sources, to hand out titles, so why do you mention it in the same breath as the BCS?

  2. Because USC is the 2003 National Champion and LSU blows cock. The 2 worst teams played in the Sugar Bowl, and USC made that clear in the 2005 Orange Bowl when they raped Oklahoma. Where was LSU in 2004-2005 season?

  3. LSU fans need to start living in the present. The ONLY reason why I wouldn’t mind USC losing today is so I could watch USC destroy yet another powderpuff SEC team and shut the Cajuns up forever. They are pathetic and have a serious inferiority complex.

    That is all.

  4. who is this pussy? the a.p. (assoiated press not ape) named usc champs. which lsu did not get, so if you can get the press to take back their claim, we’ll stop. seems the rest of the country agrees.
sec folks are the biggest FUNKING whiners. when a pac 10 team wasn’t in the title game for so long sec and everybody said the pac was week. then sc started whipp’n that ass and the sec on the outside looking in for the 4th time out of 5.
your pissed now watch who’ll be picked #1 next pre-season. trojans t’aint going away no time soon jim-bob!cry some more!
