BCS announcement has been made — Florida vs. Ohio State for the title:

  • Rose Bowl, Jan. 1, 5pm EST: #3 Michigan vs. #5 USC
  • Fiesta Bowl, Jan. 1, 8pm EST: #8 Boise State vs. #10 Oklahoma
  • Orange Bowl, Jan. 2, 8pm EST: #6 Louisville vs. #14 Wake Forest
  • Sugar Bowl, Jan. 3, 8pm EST: #4 LSU vs. #11 Notre Dame
  • BCS Championship Game, Jan. 8, 8pm EST: #1 Ohio State vs. #2 Florida

All in all, pretty fair shake out. Auburn and Wisconsin — the two teams ranked ahead of Notre Dame — can’t get in b/c of a stupid BCS rule about only two teams per conference. So by BCS rules/logic, Notre Dame and their pattycake collection of wins are actually the most deserving and eligible team.

And once again, USC is the Pac-10’s lone representative.

  1. I don’t like ND in the BCS, but I hope your “pattycake” comment was meant tongue-in-cheek, especially when you compare it to Boise State.

  2. I’m sure it wasn’t. ND played only 2 top 25 teams in their entire schedule. Their schedule has been an ongoing joke throughout their run this season.

  3. I was hoping Louisville would play Boise State so maybe we would see a game in the 90’s…lol
but seriously…I hope LSU beats that school we dont talk about

  4. If you thought that the domers played a horrible schedule, look at Wisconsin.

  5. Hmmm, so ND’s strength of schedule (according to Sagarin/USA Today) is better than Oklahoma and Wake Forrest, both of whom get automatic bids into the BCS. If ND’s schedule is a “joke,” then so are the schedules of several other BCS teams. Where are your derragatory comments about those conferences getting automatic bids?

  6. Let’s, does “PattyCake” include Tulane, Mississippi or, um, Buffalo? How about Bowling Green, Western Illinois or, um, Buffalo (let’s not forget their scintillating victory over San Diego State – or common opponent performance beating Penn State by 10)? And it’s not like Notre Dame got drubbed by a team like Georgia.
Do we really believe Auburn is more deserving than even Arkansas and their three losses?
Clearly, Notre Dame has done so very little to boost voter confidence in their team. They didn’t belong on the field with either SC or Michigan those Saturdays. However, it’s not like there’s some laundry list of stellar teams in College Football right now. I mean, Florida is going to the NC game. They’ve been shaky, at best, all year long. Plus, I think we all can agree that the attention and revenue that a Notre Dame will bring to the Big Easy will be a very lucrative respite in the wake of Katrina. Much more so than Auburn or Wisconsin has to offer.

  7. Well, I’ve got USC playing Auburn in the first round of my NCAA Playoffs. The winner would take on the Florida/Texas victor in the quarters. Wouldn’t it be great to head into next week excited about the first round matchup? You can see brackets at http://ccexplore.pokerworks.com.

  8. Lane Kiffin needs to go! I am not just saying this now becasue we lost, I have said it before. Kiffin’s play calling is terrible and has cost us now 2 national championships. He continously ran the ball right into the left side where UCLA was bringing an extra man, and easily took 10 points at least off the board. Yes we were having issues with protection, why no quick slants to Jarret and Smith to make them pay, or more screen passes and draws. He is simply inept and it was masked somewhat last year by the overwhelming offensive talent we had. Without Reggie, Matt (to audible out of his bad calls), and LenDale he can’t do anything. If we still had Chow we would be working on a 4th consecutive title and JD Booty would have a trip to NY in the near future.

I haven’t been a fan of Booty’s all season but Saturday really showed me that it’s Kiffin who’s the weak spot in our offense — Booty is doing a perfectly adequate job. I’d love to see Kiffin out of there.
