There’s Got to Be a Morning After…

A brief sampling of the thoughts from around the nation, just over 12 hours after USC-UCLA shocked the nation:

UCLA: Holy shit! Holy shit!…oh wait, does this mean another season of Dorrell? Shit. Well, at least we’ve got the Emerald Bowl.

Notre Dame: Holy shit! Holy shit!…oh wait, this means Karl “The Pizza Boy” Dorrell just did what Charlie “Mom Jeans” Weis has been unable to pull off. Well, at least we’ve still got a potential BCS berth for our impressive wins over Georgia Tech, UCLA, and the Coast Guard.

Michigan: So should we send our congratulatory fruit cakes to Pasadena, or Westwood? What’s DeWayne Walker’s address?

Florida: So wait, we beat Arkansas and win the SEC (soundtrack here, provided by EDSBS: ) and USC loses, and we’re STILL not getting into the National Championship game? WTF?!?!!

  1. I got a new UCLA campaign going,

    “FIRE DORRELL-DeWayne 4 Head Coach”

  2. Trash talk from the fans of the team that committed the biggest choke of the year? Not too classy.

  3. http://www.bruinsnation.com/ really cracks me up. They have an entire front page devoted to a 4-point win over USC that amounts to nothing for them except smashing our hopes of a national title shot, talk about sportsmanship. PATHETIC. They are still 7-5, still not going to the BCS, still have a half-retard for a coach, and still not going to repeat this next year. They have an awesome defensive coordinator that caught us off guard. Do you really think that Pete will allow this to happen again? Think again.

  4. How is any of that trash talk? It’s simple fact.

    (A) UCLA fans were calling for the head of Dorrell before this game. If this one win really changes ALL of their feelings, they’re fucking retarded.

    (B) Notre Dame has talked up Charlie Weis as their savior. Only, their savior hasn’t been able to beat USC, while Dorrell (who choked HARD in the final minutes against ND) did. I’ve personally already spoken with ND Fans who are ashamed of this.

Let me take a guess ‘bob’ — you’re an ND fan. And you’d love to talk more shit right now, but you just can’t get past the fact that WE HANDED YOUR ASSES TO YOU. And no loss to UCLA changes that fact.

Sorry Irish losers….you are now officially more pathetic than UCLA. Deal with it. We’ll be busy playing in yet another BCS bowl game, and collecting the huge payday that comes with it.

You are right about a couple things but incorrect about a couple things. I am an ND fan. And sure, I would love to say ND is better than SC. But as you said, the Trojans smacked ND around all day. In a lot of ways, the score didn’t show how dominant SC was. I don’t care if you lost against UCLA. I would have preferred that USC won because I don’t hate SC. I have a degree from ND and SC. My point is, the Trojans couldn’t get it done against a team they should have killed. SC choked when the NC was on the line and instead of admitting it, you talk smack about other teams. If SC had played UCLA the way they had ND, they would be headed to Glendale. But like you said, the Trojans are headed to the Rose Bowl. Good luck to SC against Michigan.

  6. Bob:
I believe the post is in response to the ND fans that are currently laughing about USC’s loss to UCLA. I myself have been subject to some of ND’s schadenfreude following SC’s loss. Its a ridiculous stance to take and this post is just calling out those fans.

As far as UCLA is concerned, I don’t think this post nor any USC fan can take anything away from UCLA.

Despite your claim, USC didn’t “choke.” UCLA’s defensive coordinator had a better gameplan than ND did and it showed. USC didn’t overlook the UCLA game but intead they were outplayed and outcoached. Getting outplayed is not the same as choking.

The Dorrell comment isn’t shit talking. Its a valid concern for UCLA fans and one you’ll see on UCLA blogs. Many diehard Bruins had almost welcomed a loss to USC if it meant Dorrell would get fired.

The Emerald Bowl Comment might be construed as shit talking but in actuality, its a fact that UCLA is not going to an elite bowl game. Its one thing SC fans can hold over UCLA fans right now. Please let us have it.

These comments are not a lack of class. In my experience, SC fans are some of the classiest in the NCAA. There are exceptions of course, especially when a team becomes ultra-popular but don’t bundle this post or this blog into that group. Regardless, the UCLA/USC rivalry is one in which a bit of class can be thrown out the window. Despite your ND allegiances, its apparent you didn’t learn that during your time at SC.

    Fight On!

  7. Bob,

Although I think it’s more a case of great D by UCLA, than choke by ‘SC, your comments are fine. Considering the oft sanctimonius and arrogant Domer posters, you’re a breath of fresh air.

  8. For what it is worth, USC is Notre Dame’s best rival. Both are good schools who run clean programs and compete with class. USC has been amazing over the last 5 years. The Irish are trying to get to that level. Personally, I think that both teams have mostly good fans that respect fans of rival schools. That said, I have seen enough jerks from both schools to realize that there are enough bad apples to give people the wrong impression. For some reason, blogs seem to bring it out of people. Maybe it is because you are not looking in the person’s face or because the printed word does not carry tone of voice. Best for people–me included–not to take these blogs too seriously.

  9. What a choke job…you $c fans remember, we have 1 graduating senior on our defense, you’ll see all these boyz who shut your football team down the whole game for years to come. Not to mention, our offense is young and will be complete next year, they got better as the year went on. I was at the game yesterday in the front row ready to rush the field and i saw the recruits walk off and i could tell they wanted to be a part of THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM IN LOS ANGELES IN 2006. You bastards have a 2 game losing streak in the Pasadena and Michigan will make sure to extend that to 3 games next month. Enjoy your Christmas SC fans, and after youre done watching highlights of your National Title Game hopes wash away, come catch the #1 Men’s Basketball team play in Westwood, or you can just wait till we come and write our name all over the GAYlon center.

  10. Do you realize how childish and idiotic you sound $C SUC? I swear to god, these waves of comments from UCLA fans I’ve see as of late must be comming from the acclaimed junior highs of Southern California.

  11. Sorry, my experience is that “classy ‘SC fan” is an oxymoron. There are total jerks in all fan camps, but the overall arrogance of the average ‘SC fan is only trumped by the average ND fan.

As far as ‘SC running a clean program? Puh-leeze. I go back to watching Charlie White driving around South Central in his cardinal and gold Mercedes in the 1970’s, and now am wondering how Reggie Bush’s sugar daddy affair with Michael Michaels and RB’s family will shake out.

I’ve seen UCLA scandals over the years, and they tend to get cleaned up (followed by a decline in the quality of the program). Dorrell is the coach of UCLA precisely because of Bob Toledo’s shadiness.

‘SC fans should expect Carroll to move on to the NFL, at least one Reggie Bush tainted National Championship to be rescinded (if that’s possible), and a decline of ‘SC football power in the next couple of years.

  12. CHOKE ON!

PWNED!!!! Don’t feel too bad, At least You still own the police!

  14. MAN seriously usc people need to learn how to spell… now that we have a better football team all u have on us is ur income…

  15. Bruin fans, keep in mind, the best defense on the field that day was at USC. UCLA was held to 225 yards while SC’ piled up 325 yards. Your defense looked fantastic as they held us to well below our averages. But, your offense was even more pathetic than ours and our defense is still better than yours. You got really lucky on this day and that’s all that happened. Looks like Florida State has opened up as the 5 1/2 favorite while USC is favored by 1 1/2 over Michigan. What’s that tell you? It tells me that “the experts” who do this for a living think that UCLA is just fortunate to be alive.

    Hey Tommie,

Those “experts” also guaranteed a $uc two TD win over the Gutty little Bruins!!!

Cheer up, at least You still have basketball….LMAO!

    CHOKE ON!

  17. Another Rose Bowl appearance for the Trojans! Any team that looses to Oregon State should not be playing for the BCS! UCLA’s win brings the SC mystique to an end! The truth was seen on the field! SC isnt the best not even close!
