First in manners.
Typically, coaches try to remain above the fray and not sound like a yahoo living in a trailer park, foaming at the mouth when it’s pointed out that USC has just plain kicked the crap out of any SEC team with the courage to play it.
Then in math.
He pointed out that 58 SEC football players were invited to the NFL Scouting Combine and only 39 for the Pac-10.
That means 3.9 player per Pac-10 team and 4.8 player per SEC team. Of course, the Pac-10 welcomes back an average of 16.5 starters per team this coming season, the SEC 14.5 (and nearly all of that comes at the bottom: Kentucky 17, Ole Miss 17, Mississippi State 16 and Vanderbilt 18).
So timing sort of takes a bite out of his numbers.
