As we continue our daily countdown towards the 2007 season, we have arrived at #52. Wearing #52 for the Trojans next season will be redshirt sophomore Luther Brown. From the looks of things the only thing keeping this guy off the field is the current depth at linebacker. I can assure you there isn’t a quarterback in the nation that would want to see this guy staring at him from the middle linebacker position.
“The sophomore has bulked up and is cut like a professional body builder right now. He was mostly used on special teams last year, but if he can play even half as good as he looks, there is no way Carroll could afford not to get him more reps at linebacker.”

Brown will see plenty of time on special teams this season and will battle Thomas Williams for the the #2 spot at middle linebacker behind Rey Maualuga. Earning playing time on defense this season will be crucial for Luther Brown. The experience will be desperately needed if he is to hold off incoming freshmen Chris Galippo (and probably another linebacker by the name of Brown) in future seasons to win the coveted starting middle linebacker position.
