That isn’t a big gap you saw between the teeth of USC quarterback Mark Sanchez as he led the Men of Troy to victory over Notre Dame on Saturday–it’s an eagle, painted onto his personalized mouthguard.
After assuming the starting job, Sanchez, a native of Orange County, California, went to the team dentist and asked him to make a Mexican-flag themed mouthpiece. The dentist obliged. “He put the eagle with the snake on it — it was looking sweet so I had to wear it,” Sanchez told the Los Angeles Times.
Sanchez is far from the first Latino quarterback to play with the big boys, though they are quite rare. Currently three Latino quarterbacks are playing in the NFL—J.P. Losman (y Soto), Jeff Garcia and Antonio Ramiro aka “Tony Romo“…
