USC Grabs Seven of Rivals’ Top 100

The recruiting gurus at Rivals.com have listed their Top-100, 2008 high school prospects. The Trojans have seven commits (so far) from the cream of the high school crop, only behind Ohio State with eight. Of those seven are two California-bred, five-star offensive tackles in #11 Matt Kalil (Ryan’s kid brother) and the ridiculously talented #15 Tyron Smith.

On the verge of 5-stars (actually listed as 4) is Orange Lutheran and *future Mackey award winning* tight end, #31 Blake Ayles. The sure-handed kid might as well have super-glue on his palms, he can catch almost anything thrown at him. Wes Horton #40 and Armond Armstead #42 will add a big defensive one-two punch, likely backing up Kyle Moore, and keeping the other offensive coordinator busy as hell trying to get by them.

Then there’s “the Jerry Rice of High School” receiver Brice Butler out of Georgia at #79. Bet Georgia’s kicking themselves in the ass for not getting this guy. With explosive speed, vision and sure-hands, Butler offers the depth at receiver the Trojans need. Last but not least is #96 DJ Shoemate, an all-purpose Athlete that could be used on both sides of the ball. Receiver, running-back or defensive back, Shoemate will surely make his mark in the Trojan future.

  1. Watch out you USC LOSERS! That 1 extra Ohio State recruit will make the difference when they smear your Trojan asses all over the Coliseum. 9-13-08 your season will already be ruined. The day of reckoning is open you.

  2. EVERYTIME OHIO STATE PLAYS A GOOD TEAM THEY FALL APART. lOOK AT THEIR LAST 10 BOWL GAMES– WHAT A LAUGH. WHEN THEY MEET USC THEY WILL FREEZE AGAIN USC 44 OHIO 12 THEY ALWAYS GET NERVOUS

  3. If OSU had to play in the Pac 10 it more than likely would finish the season behind the likes of Oregon, Oregon St., UC at Berkley, Arizona St & USC (not necessarily in that order. USC two losses were in the Pac 10 not outside of the conference. USC as the only Collegiate team to go 11 or more wins in a season for the last 6 years has not lost outside of the Pac 10. The Pac 10 is a tough conference, not a bunch of also rans like the Big 10. Once you get beyond OSU & Mich. there’s not much to be said for the Big 10.
