The recruiting gurus at Rivals.com have listed their Top-100, 2008 high school prospects. The Trojans have seven commits (so far) from the cream of the high school crop, only behind Ohio State with eight. Of those seven are two California-bred, five-star offensive tackles in #11 Matt Kalil (Ryan’s kid brother) and the ridiculously talented #15 Tyron Smith.

On the verge of 5-stars (actually listed as 4) is Orange Lutheran and *future Mackey award winning* tight end, #31 Blake Ayles. The sure-handed kid might as well have super-glue on his palms, he can catch almost anything thrown at him. Wes Horton #40 and Armond Armstead #42 will add a big defensive one-two punch, likely backing up Kyle Moore, and keeping the other offensive coordinator busy as hell trying to get by them.
Then there’s “the Jerry Rice of High School” receiver Brice Butler out of Georgia at #79. Bet Georgia’s kicking themselves in the ass for not getting this guy. With explosive speed, vision and sure-hands, Butler offers the depth at receiver the Trojans need. Last but not least is #96 DJ Shoemate, an all-purpose Athlete that could be used on both sides of the ball. Receiver, running-back or defensive back, Shoemate will surely make his mark in the Trojan future.
