Roll Tide, an SEC-loving member of the bleacher report, recently put up a blog post entitled USC is a Joke. In the comments section of his own blog he posted this statement:

It’s just my belief that teams like Notre Dame and USC are consistently overrated… Who does USC play that really tests them?

Well Roll Tide, we can’t but agree with you on the Notre Dame front. But I thought we here at TrojanWire should, being the good Samaritans we are, look into the past USC records to get you that information you requested.

Well to answer your question, Roll Tide, USC plays the EXACT SAME GUYS YOUR TEAM LOSES TO EACH YEAR!… Oh, and see those little numbers next to the colleges up there, those are called final scores. Maybe if you had got past second grade English and Math, you might be able to actually check your stats and make some meaningful analysis. If USC is the Joke, then Alabama is the punch line. And we’re all laughing.

(I agree with the premise of the original article, but not the conclusion. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence… that said…)

Give me a break. USC doesn’t need to compare itself to Alabama to look good. The fact that you think you need to play the “well we’re better than YOU” game says more about you than the original post said about its author.

Besides, anyone with an iota of reading comprehension knows that “Roll Tide” wasn’t saying that Alabama was better than USC, just that USC didn’t earn the ranking they get every year.

I hope you’re not an alumnus of USC… I’d have expected a little stronger reasoning skill out of one of those.

Seriously how can you say USC doesn’t earn their rank? They win in their bowls. They win their games (MOST). 2 NCs 3 Appearances and 6 straight Pac 10 titles. The team you should be complaining about the rank is OSU. Point proven three times now. Obviously if we do exactly what the SEC has done even better in our last game VS OSU then that proves we can hang with the “best”

Because it is the age old ignorance. Cultural bias bordering on ethocentrism. Basically, To anyone east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason Dixon Line, the Pac-10/big 10/Big 12 Sucks. The belief that the game is coached/played differently in a different part of this country is laughable. the ONLY thing I have noticed (I grew up in the West and have lived in South East for 10 years)is on average there are more fans of college football in the South. Where you might have 4 of 10 die hard fans in the West, you have 8 of 10 in the SouthEast.

USC sucks 21-0 against OSU, btw Bama sucked those years something called PROBATION! Spencer Pennington was even our starting QB for 2004 during the entire 2004 season after Brodie Croyle got injusred the 3rd game of the season…Spencer Pennington…his arm strength was that of a small child, still had the BEST DEFENSE in the country despite playing the SEC.

And runnign the score up on Houston Nutt’s deranged ass and an injured Arky team DOES NOT COUNT…

Give it up guys. To paraphrase Chris Rock– A USC fan can never win an argument with an SEC fan, because the USC fan is handicapped by a need to MAKE SENSE.
