Here’s a little math equation for those of you who like algebra: USC -OC -DC =??? Well, don’t be upset if you can’t figure it out, because right now Pete Carroll is hard at work trying to figure out the exact same thing. ESPN’s Sports Center just broke that USC’s defensive coordinator Nick Holt will follow former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian up to the Washington Huskies. Head coach Sarkisian will announce Holt as Washington’s new defensive coordinator at a news conference at 3pm today.
This past season under Holt, USC led the country in total defense, pass defense, scoring defense and pass efficiency defense with only three opponents averaging more than 4 yards per play. USC’s average of 7.8 points allowed was the best in 20 years (Auburn, 1988). Carroll will surely have his work cut out replacing Holt.
