Adam Maya from the OC Register got a chance to speak with all three QB candidates after the first day of Spring practice. Here are some highlights from those interviews.
Mitch Mustain: With the reps split evenly for now, what are you focusing on most?
“Just getting it down. It’s not about who’s making the big plays, throwing the bombs. Who can do it consistently, day in, day out? We’ve got one day under. The way I look at it, I’ve got to improve next practice and stay consistent, and the day after that come out and do the same thing.”
Aaron Corp: How do you find that balance between being a game manager and your inclination to make plays?
“Don’t throw an interception. That’s the main thing. If nothing’s there, I can take off with the ball. I think that’s a better result then just throwing it away. When I do get the opportunity to throw, stay poised and take what the defense gives you.”
Matt Barkley: What are some of your strengths in the competition?
“I think my arm strength is. But then again, Mitch has a strong arm. And Aaron has a stronger arm than most people think. He can zip it in. I pride myself in trying to work on the mental game, study as hard as I can, be prepared so when I get on the field it’s easy.”
