Today marks the 40th anniversary of when a man with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California first set foot on the moon.

Everyone knows Neil Armstrong’s famous “one small step for man…” quote but here is an interesting one from the USC 2005 graduation ceremony.

“I hope you become comfortable with the use of logic without being deceived into concluding that logic will inevitably lead you to the correct conclusion.”

An estimated 600 million people watched the Apollo 11 landing live on television, a world record until 750 million people watched the wedding of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana in 1981. Video and news coverage by the late Walter Cronkite after the jump.
