Here is a nice vintage Sports Illustrated cover of Anthony Davis from October 1, 1973. “A.D.” was dominant in college. In 1974 he was a unanimous First Team All-American and was 2nd in Heisman Trophy voting. He was First Team All-Conference twice and was the first player in PAC-8 history to rush for 1,000 yards three seasons in a row.

Davis won the Voit Trophy twice that recognizes the Most Outstanding Player on the West Coast and led USC in rushing, scoring and kick return yardage three straight years. He finished with more than 5,400 all-purpose yards and 52 touchdowns.

His teams went 31-3-2 and won three conference titles, three Rose Bowls and two National Championships. Anthony Davis was inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame in December 2005.

FIGHT ON “A.D.”!
