Oregon’s Chip Kelly Can’t Get Matt Barkley Out Of His Head

Why is a 45-year old responding to comments made by a 19-year old freshman?

Why does a grown man still go by Chip?

The answer to one of these questions after the jump.

Coach Kelly responds to Matt Barkley’s comments that he enjoys the pressure that comes from playing in a loud, hostile environment:

  1. The first the letters of Go Ducks? (Yeah, that’s NOT just a coincidence…)

(Please read the following in Rodney Dangerfield’s voice)
    I tell ya, Coach Kelly gets no respect;
One time he went deep sea fishing with the pope
A big a gust of wind picked up and blew the popes hat off his head
Coach Kelly hopped out of the boat, walked across the water and returned with the pope’s hat.
The headlines the next day read: “Coach Kelly Can’t Swim!”

After Saturday, we’ll get some respect

  2. He probably responded because the question was asked.

    Gotta love a USC edumacation.

  3. Yeah, way to take something out of context to create bulletin board material!

  4. old man sounds pretty nervous about “the kid”

  5. Chip Kelly sort of looks like Harry from Dumb & Dumber’s fatter, dumber brother.

  6. sorry chip but you sound like an idiot. you and your 50 thousand fans can try all you want but your not going to be louder than the shoe

  7. give me a break Thoe shoe aint got jack on autzen, When has the shoe ever set noise level records??

  8. Loyd Carr, who coached many times in the Horse Shoe in their biggest rivalry game, said Autzen is the loudest stadium he had ever been in after losing there in ’03

  9. I’ve been at Autzen a few times, and while it’s loud, it doesn’t compare to the atmosphere of the sheer crowd at the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl. Back in the day when Oklahoma played USC at the Coliseum in 1988, and that was rocking. That same year at the Rose Bowl against UCLA, with 100,000+, that was crazy.

Don’t get me wrong; I think Autzen is an awesome place, but it’s not exactly intimidating. Up at UW, Husky stadium is quite loud too, but again, the sheer crowd at the Coliseum and Rose Bowl is probably more intimidating, IMO.

  10. riight whoever said the Rose Bowl or Coliseum are anywhere near as loud and crazy as Autzen hasn’t been to all three. theres a reason Oregon has had Gameday come 4 times now (one of the two teams west of the mississippi)…one of the best gameday atmospheres in the nation. why isn’t Gameday coming to USC? nobody cares about USC

its hilarious how condom fans search left and right for bulletin material. gonna need a LOT more than that to beat the Ducks!

  11. This Autzen place sounds impressive. I bet the team who plays there has won lots of national championships, right?

Yes because the University of Oregon is so academically competitive, USC a US News top 30 ranked university, pales in comparison. Give me a break with a near 90% acceptance rate, you little ducklings should be the last ones mouthing off about “edumacation”. Hell, UO makes some of those SEC schools look like Ivy Leagues, you practically beg anyone to enroll.

  13. Duckfan345,just read an article with Carr’s quote and he said Autzen was as loud as any place he has coached not louder, still impressive, but you misquoted. And for the fan of a team that has won exactly ONE Rose Bowl and only appearing in 4 compared to USC’s 33 appearances with 24 wins and insinuating Oregon is more revered is utterly laughable.By the way,how many National Championships has the Duck’s won?Exactly.Must not have been 4:20 yet

  14. How’s your day Trojan fans??? Nice blog!!! That grown man named “Chip”, just whipped you a@@!!! Next time you come to Autzen, we’ll be waiting to say “hello”! Thank you… come again!

  15. Well congrats, Gwood, looks like your Ducks have the inside track to the Rose Bowl for the first time since…let’s see, 1995 when Penn State whipped your ass….but I’m sure we can find a win in there somewhere–oh yeah, here it is, UO beat Penn back in 1917.

Ducks ruled last night, but off year or not, Pete Carroll has accomplished more in eight years than UO has in its whole football history.
