What we’ve heard from one source (purportedly) close to the program:
Jack Del Rio as the new head coach, bringing Kennedy Pola and Norm Chow with him (no word on Orgeron). And perhaps the bigger story, Garrett to be replaced by Rich McKay, son of USC coaching legend John McKay.
Stay tuned as we try to confirm from other sources. Or just indulge in the hopeful dream of a Garrett-free athletic department with USC fans worldwide.
I have said this from the start: Where has Garrett been through all of the athletic turmoil? Protecting himself.
With the great Dr. Sample leaving–absolutely legit president who has done the most for the university–it is only fitting that we see major changes in basketball, football, and the AD position.
Yep, it’s the obvious move to protect the franchise by appeasing the NCAA.
Sometimes it’s hard while we must watch the decision-makers miss the painfully obvious move in glacially slow fashion — like Carroll did with Mustain and Barkley. Garrett’s great; he’s all ‘SC. But there is no better sacrificial lamb, and there’s sooooo much money at stake.
More to the point, it’s true. It was his whole gig to oversee his coaches. You could say the Garrett was blindsided by the Bush ordeal and then lost input into Carroll’s moves afterward. But then Floyd? And then the McKnight
thing while the investigation was pending?? Thank God they closed the investigation because to screw up so obviously while under the microscope – that’s simply stupid.
