Sign of the times

The Galen Center is in the process of adding a marquee element to its exterior.

Namely, a marquee.

A new programmable LED board, measuring 18-feet-by-32-feet and rising up 100 feet high next to the 110 freeway, is being constructed on the northeast corner of USC’s stately arena, with an estimated completion date in late March. The computerized sign board, to be named Tilley Tower in honor of longtime supporter Bill Tilley, will display results, schedules, congratulations and other athletic-related messages.

The $2.3 million project, which is technically part of the Galen Center’s original construction plan, was paid for entirely by athletic department fundraising.
