Every year the NFL releases a list of players that fail the NFL combine’s “confidential” drug test. Every year the confidential report is leaked. This year NBC is reporting USC tight end Anthony McCoy is one of headlining acts, along with Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer. But while Dwyer’s positive amphetamine test was likely triggered by a medication he was cleared by the league to take, its unlikely McCoy has a similar excuse for marijuana. McCoy, one of the most complete tight end prospects in this year’s draft, preempted the report by revealing the results to the NFL franchises last week. Hopefully the honestly will pay off, keeping his prospects relatively stable coming into the final stretch before the draft.
