In honor of the first game of the year, TrojanWire presents a special By the Numbers game day notes.

79: the kick-off temperature at Aloha stadium. That is not including the humidity or the heat coming up from the FieldTurf (thankfully Aloha stadium stopped using AstroTurf in 2003). There is also a 40% chance of precipitation. You can call me Dallas Raines.
4: coaches to watch tonight (John Baxter, Ed Orgeron, Kennedy Pola and Monte Kiffin). We might have lost one of the best ever with Pete Carroll, but Lane Kiffin is no dummy. He upgraded at all the other coaching spots and surrounded himself with arguably the best staff in the nation. Keep an eye on Baxter’s special teams, Orgeron getting the team pumped up before the game and his defensive line, Pola as an offensive coordinator and the work he has done with the running backs, and coach Carroll’s mentor Monte Kiffin.
37: the number true freshman Nickell Robey’s wears. Robey is starting at cornerback opposite Shareece Wright. The coaches have had nothing but great things to say about Robey throughout camp. He is only 5’8 and 165 pounds, but he hits hard and is one of the fastest players on the field. He also has a crazy vertical leap. He should be a fun player to watch this year. Robey is not the only true freshman starting, Robert Woods will be the number two wide receiver. He wears number 13.
21.5: the spread on tonight’s game.
0: servings of candy or soda the players had on the flight over to Hawaii or at team meals. The coaching staff is keeping the players away from junk food. On the team flight the players were only given juice or water and for team meals they are eating chicken, fish and pasta.
1: times I have seen Piranha 3D. I highly recommend. Mainly because of Kelly Brook’s Oscar worthy performance.
2: interesting ESPN articles on Lane Kiffin you should read before the game. Click here to read Ted Miller’s piece and click here to read Arash Markazi’s article.
3,201; – Number of blog posts about Layla Kiffin’s attractiveness before the end of the 2010 season.
83: Ronald Johnson’s new number this year. We switched from number 8 to 83 because he thought 83 is more of a NFL wide receiver’s number. Johnson has been the most consistent player on offense through training camp. He also considers himself a Heisman candidate. You got to love his confidence.
106: catches that Hawaii slot receiver Greg Salas had last year. Salas is a senior, he also had 1,590 yards and 8 TDs last season. Bryant Moniz, a product to Hawaii, was the guy that threw most of those passes. Moniz passed for 2,396 yards and 14 TDs in eight starts. Hawaii’s offense is very similar to the run-and-shoot. They will throw early and often. These two players that could give the Trojans trouble.
90210: as in the greatest/worst show I watched growing up…Beverly Hills 90210 and today’s date. I love me some Valerie Malone.
She is so bad, but so good.
Here is another one:
Did somebody say girl fight???
6: times the Trojans have beat Hawaii. The Trojans have never lost to the Rainbow Warriors.
5: – A number we’ll spend all season trying to forget.
Kickoff is at 8 p.m. tonight on ESPN. Have fun and don’t drink and drive.
FIGHT ON!
