Former Trojan and current Chicago Bull Taj Gibson put on a clinic in posterization for the Miami Heat last night.
In case you missed it, Taj used his dynamic dunkery to send a message to the Heat, the Mavericks and Thunder, and even Oprah: get out of my way or you will get destroyed.
Enjoy the awesomeness of both videos after the jump.
As we said up front, Taj Gibson–one of the all-time unsung heroes of USC basketball–went to town on the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals last night in Chicago. All season long, Taj has been one of the key factors in the Bulls dominating season, quietly going out and getting the boards and blocks (and occasional scores) his team needed to rack up the best record in the league. But last night, any notion of Taj Gibson quietly doing his thing was exploded along with D-Wade’s pride.
The difficult question: which of these two violent acts of dunkage was better?
This first one might be the worst humiliation of an NBA poster child in the YouTube era, with the possible exception of D-Wade’s teammate LeBron getting owned by a high school kid. If the Heat crumble in this series, look for more than one basketball blogger to point to this very moment as the time the Heat’s championship hopes died, like Ralph Wiggum’s bent wookiee on the sidewalk:
This second dunk is a different flavor of awesome altogether: the hyper-violent put-back, perhaps more effectively demonstrated than ever before. At this point, you start thinking Taj should come back to USC and teach a course on dunking when his playing days are done:
