Two failed two point conversion attempts in the first half made it possible for Minnesota to win the game with a field goal. Notice SC won 19-17. If they stuck with the PATs, it would’ve been a 21-17 win, making it much more difficult for the Gophers to drive down the field with a minute left and score a touchdown, versus getting within field goal range and winning a field goal, 20-19. Fortunately Torin Harris got the interception and sealed a Trojan victory.
You are absolutely correct about the shakey play calling…and what really makes you scratch ur head and ask is,what happend to playing alot of players and utilizing all your weapons???Alot of ?’s will be awnserd vs. utah!
The big drop by the tight end, the bad snap, the setting of a goal to break a record before a game, eliminate that and we could of had a totally different ball game and thus would of been able to bring in more players so that morale is enhanced. Also, when planning ones offense you never ever do it with the soft attitude of it’s what the defense gives us. The attitude must be what were going to make happen in a smart and aggressive manner. That’s why it’s called OFFENSE.
Also, when a play is so wide open, usually it means the defense got confused and probably has trouble defending that particular play. Therefore it wouldn’t hurt to go back to it. Ex. the long pass to the tight end who dropped it, the dump pass to the tight end Rhett both wide open. This is football it’s not like we need to change our dress on every play. If it works do it till they prove they can stop it.
