Rebecca Soni almost pulled off the gold but fell just short in the 100m breaststroke. She lost by .08 seconds.
Soni also won silver in the same event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is the favorite for the 200m breaststroke which kicks off on August 1st. She is the defending Olympic gold medal champ.
Earlier in the week another Trojan female swimmer, Amanda Weir, became the first Trojan to win a medal in London as part of the women’s 400m freestyle relay team. They finished third for the bronze. Weir swam in the prelims but not the finals.
