The NFL in LA: Is It Really Ever Going to Happen?

Checking in on the eternal cocktease that is ‘the NFL to LA’ rumor.

Ever since the Rams and Raiders bailed on Southern California, local football fans have had to make a tough decision: root for someone hundreds of miles away…or pull for the Chargers.

Most of us did the wise thing: we buried ourselves in fantasy football, half-heartedly adopted out-of-market teams, and used USC’s near-pro caliber team to satiate our need to have elite football happening in our local TV market.

(After all, it’s rough–psychologically and economically–when you get left for Oakland and St. Louis, then see the league shack up with Jacksonville before bringing it back to you.)

At a recent panel hosted by Blogs with Balls and the NFL Players Association, the experts were mixed on whether or not pro football would find its way back to L.A. in the next decade:
