Mack Brown: Officially First Coach to Blame New Clock Rules for Loss

mack-brown-sad.jpgWe’ve alluded to the ‘clock start’ rule change earlier this year and hopefully we’ve effectively expressed our disgust. Like most people who take the time to maintain a blog about their favorite team, we’d just as soon see MORE football — not less — so we’re not too thrilled with the TV-minded tinkering.

Now Texas coach Mack Brown has added himself to the list of clock-change disgruntled. Discussing the role that the rule changes supposedly played in the the Longhorns’ 24-7 loss to Ohio State, Brown said:

“They scored with six minutes left and the game was over before we had a chance to do anything. I really hope whoever made these changes will go back and look them over.”

Mack, we agree — we hope the rules committee does go back and look things over. We just hope they don’t watch Saturday’s game as evidence arguing against their decision. The way the Longhorns were playing — 10 fewer minutes was an act of mercy, not madness.

  1. Really man. plus with the new rules, we all got to see 10 fewer minutes of Mack’s cold sore.

  2. Maybe they should also look over the footage from the final minutes of the Rose Bowl and see that Vince Young’s knee was down

  3. Oh I’ve been waiting for this one. you know if mack would of won he would have no complaints about new rules. texas better get ready cause now all the teams that came close last year will play some ball now. they got a big pussy at qb. we said they would not repeat. they got a bigger hill to climb. you can’t replace superstar(s) with busters! but OH texas is no miami, ohio st.,usc, you know the teams who have or had great “CHAMPIONSHIP” teams.
maybe when cowboy mccoy reach manhood they might make some noise!
