For all who think Sanchez is USC’s Panacea, Booty has a message.

The countdown is upon us and the whole nation is watching. The showdown against Arizona is less than three days away and low and behold, Sanchez is still sitting in the captain’s seat.

John-David Booty sat out of practice again on Wednesday, resting the broken finger on his throwing hand. This comes a day after he attempted to get back in the running for Saturday’s start, attempting some fifty passes on Tuesday’s practice, which in-turn caused the injury to flare up again.

Booty doesn’t want to force himself into the game unhealed if it means jeopardizing the rest of the season. He wants to be 100% with road battles against Oregon, Cal and ASU lying just weeks ahead. As reported by Gary Klein of the LA Times, Booty had these comments regarding his injury:

“I don’t want to force and press it and here I’m out two, three weeks because of something I could have been out only a week,” Booty said.

When asked if he’s worried about losing the starting job to Sanchez:

“I’m really not worried about that,” Booty said. “I just want our team to play good football, that’s the bottom line. I want us to win, and if I’m not in there I think Mark gives us the best shot to do that. And I’m looking for him to play well if his number is called.”

Don’t be too surprised if Pete pulls a last minute switch, tossing JDB in or even Michael McDonald into the Saturday’s game plan. But it’s looking more and more like it’s a safe bet that the Sanchez camp will get their wish. Will Sanchez rise to the stardom as in typical USC quarterback fashion? Or will he, along with USC’s remaining thread of title hopes, crash and burn at the hands of the Wildcats?

One thing is for certain: it is going to be an interesting game. And hopefully a very different type of “interesting” than befell the Trojans last weekend.

  1. wow, that’s some bad photoshop for realism:P
Good fade in, but amazing you have the swollen finger on his left hand, even though his throwing arm is his right. That doesn’t even mention the exorcist type action that hand has going on.

  2. Yeah I know. I threw realism out the window. The exagerated large hand, a finger that’s three times the normal size, and yes…you are correct…it’s on the wrong arm.

But it’s the message that counts…thanks for the comment

  3. Mark Sanchez will be the Mayor of L.A. if he tears it up on Saturday, and leaves no doubt. The kid has all the potential in the world. He is hands down a better athlete than Booty

Many of us are also looking forward to seeing Sanchez play, but even happier to see Booty on the bench. Let’s hope Booty can finally do something useful for USC, such as using his booty to keep the bench warm for Sanchez.

  5. How can you hate the guy that lead USC to a top 4 national finish and a victory over Michigan in the rosebowl?

How can you guys be so in awe of Mark Sanchez, when we haven’t seen him do much since high school, except for throwing a pair of interceptions?

I think all you people started SC during the Pete Carroll, Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart years. And you’re all spoiled children that are so shocked by losing that you turn against the wrong people. USC didn’t only lose against Oregon State, UCLA or Stanford because of Booty. Sure he played a part of it, but a lot more is going on than your one-dimensional quarterback quick fix.

Sure I hope Sanchez will do well, but there’s nothing to prove he will do anything better than Booty. And I sure hope John-David is healthy by Cal and Oregon…

  6. I love how all these so called SC fans are rippin’ away at our starting qb JDB. I support both Booty and Sanchez, but I want Booty to be healthy for Oregon and Cal. You guys act as if Sanchez is the answer for the remainder of the season when he hasn’t started a collegiate game yet, Booty hasn’t been lookin’ sharp either, but his experience should pay off when we hit Oregon and Cal.

  7. Captain Awesome Avatar

Real fans will support USC no matter who is at QB, the rest can piss off and go back to being Miami fans.

  8. Devil's Advocate Avatar
    Devil’s Advocate

From the recent performance of this team, I predict that they will lose 7 to 10.

  9. John Booty is down and Mark Sanchez is a good start for the Trojans.

    FIGHT ON !!!
