The biggest thing missing on the USC defense right now is a play making linebacker. Someone that can get to the quarterback, force fumbles and wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Clay Matthews was that guy at USC and now he is that guy for the Green Bay Packers. Matthews was the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. He is leading the NFL with 7 sacks and is becoming a fan favorite in Green Bay.
ESPN’s Elizabeth Merrill wrote a nice feature today on the former Trojan about his current life in Green Bay and how he grew up as the slow skinny kid. Even though he was blessed with great genetics, he still has made the most of his abilities and is dedicated to always getting better.
