UCLA has Troy Aikman, Notre Dame has Joe Montana, Stanford has John Elway, and USC has…Ron Johnson. Well, he didn’t actually play in Super Bowl XXXVII, but he has a ring! That counts, right?

It’s a constant taunt from USC’s rivals. Despite the Trojans’ success in pumping first class, Super Bowl caliber running backs, linebackers, defensive backs and receivers into the league, it’s the Trojans’ quarterbacks failure to win it all that sits like an albatross around their necks. But with four USC quarterbacks projected to start in the NFL next season, there’s 1 in 8 chance of a USC QB super bowl champion based on odds alone. And thems good odds.

The Trojans most likely to start Super Bowl XLV in Dallas? (in order)

1) Mark Sanchez: As a rookie, Sanchez was only one step away from being the first rookie to quarterback a super bowl, with a loss to the Colts in the AFC championship. This was despite less than perfect play throughout the season, with only 12 touchdowns to 20 interceptions. How did he pull that off? Only a fantastic supporting cast and one of the staunchest defenses in the league. Coming out of a solid draft and free agent pick up, if Sanchez adjusts during the off season and tightens his play, his Jets have a real chance of getting back there again.
Not to mention next year Sanchez would be in good company behind Marino, Roethlisberger and Brady as only the fourth 2nd year QB to start the super bowl.

2) Matt Leinart: Go ahead. Start ranting and sending your hate mail now (post your comments below). But there’s a reason Leinart’s ahead of Palmer. It takes a team to get to the super bowl.
